Server One
Your personal data center. The photos, files, passwords and messages you have handed to the cloud, brought home to a machine that answers to you alone.

A data center in your home
For a generation the bargain has been the same: hand over your data, accept the terms, and pay every month for access to your own life. Server One ends that bargain. It is a data center reduced to one small machine in your home. It plugs into power and your router, and it serves the phones and laptops you already own, from anywhere in the world, running free and open-source software.
Privacy
Your disk, your keys and your logs are in your custody, not a provider's. No company's staff can open your files, no advertiser can mine them, and any demand for them must be served on you rather than quietly on someone else.
Censorship resistance
There is no account to suspend, no terms of service to violate, and no content policy but your own. No one else can delete what you store, and what you publish over Tor cannot be taken down by seizing a domain or cancelling a hosting contract.
Security
Server One has one tenant: you. Each service runs in its own isolated container, every connection to it is encrypted, and your credentials never leave hardware you hold. There is no vast shared platform to breach.
Cost
Bought once, shared by the whole household, and run for the cost of electricity. The services on it are free software. There are no seats to count, no storage tiers to climb, and no subscription that only moves one way.
Above all, dignity.
No one should need permission to keep their own memories, speak their own mind, or hold their own money.
Self-hosting is how you stop asking permission.
Powered by StartOS
Start9's free, open-source operating system makes running your own server as simple as using an app: install services, reach them from anywhere, and back them up, all from your browser.
Replace the cloud one service at a time
Much of the finest software ever written is free and open source, and the Start9 Marketplace puts it one click from running on your own machine. It is a network of registries anyone can run, so no one can close it on you.
A year of Premium Support
Every Server One comes with a year of help from the Start9 team, the people who build its software. A $200 subscription, at no additional cost.
